Plan for College and Career Readiness
To the Parent/Guardian of a Herriman High School Junior,
The Herriman High School Counseling Department would like to inform you of some upcoming college and career readiness events that directly affect your junior.
We would like to inform you that all 11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the ACT as part of the statewide ACT program on Tuesday, March 4th during school. This testing opportunity is free for all students and we would like each student to make it a priority to be in attendance that day. You will receive more detailed information as the test date gets closer, but please plan ahead for this important day.
In preparation for the upcoming ACT, we are pleased to announce a free ACT Prep course that will be offered for all interested juniors. The ACT Prep dates and subject are as follows:
January 22nd and 29th – Science (3-5pm)
February 5th and 12th – English (3-5pm)
February 19th, 25th and 27th – Math (3-5pm)
March 4th – ACT
If you would like your student to attend, please have him/her sign up in the counseling center.
Your student’s counselor will be available to meet with you and your student beginning February 3, 2014 to create a Plan for College and Career Readiness. “The Utah State Board of Regents and the Utah State Board of Education believe all students should have education and career goals that will prepare them to experience fulfilling lives, actively participate as educated citizens, and thrive in a particularly competitive and global marketplace. A college and career ready student is prepared to succeed in college and in post-secondary workforce training programs” (http://www.schools.utah.gov/curr/earlycollege/Home/1110741-College-Readiness.aspx). Our goal at Herriman High School is to ensure all students enter their senior year with a plan for the future. Meeting with your student’s counselor will also help your student learn specifics about their individual educational needs and goals. Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your student’s counselor. The instructions to set up the appointment are on the back of this page. Thank you,
